Approach to Biodiversity

Many of the products manufactured by NIPPN Group deeply benefit from the bounty of nature. Recognizing this, we have established a basic policy and promote the conservation of biodiversity including the initial training for new employees.

Basic Policy on Biodiversity

Our basic policy on biodiversity is as follows;

Basic Policy on Biodiversity
1. We understand the impact of our business activities on biodiversity and will make continuous efforts to reduce such impact.
2. We will continuously implement resource-saving, energy-saving and the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle), focusing on the life cycle of our productsand services.
3. We will strive to expand communication with and support the activities of NGOs/NPOs, educational and research institutions, and local governments.
4. We are committed to appropriate communication and sharing of information related to biodiversity initiatives.

Keidanren Initiative for Biodiversity Conservation

We support the Declaration of Biodiversity by Keidanren and participate in its initiatives.

The "Keidanren Initiative for Biodiversity Conservation" consists of companies and organizations that are committed to more than one of the 7 items listed in the "Declaration of Biodiversity by Keidanren and Action Policy (Revised Edition)", or support the overall objectives of the initiative.

We have been promoting initiatives to preserve biodiversity by, for example, developing and releasing idle land owned by the Group in Hokkaido as "NIPPN Shikinomori". We also provide financial support to the Keidanren Nature Conservation Fund. We will continue to strengthen our efforts in accordance with NIPPN's "Basic Policy on Biodiversity."

NIPPN Shikinomori Forest

The "NIPPN Shikinomori" project is an initiative promoted by the NIPPN Group to conserve biodiversity and prevent global warming. The project began in 2011 to gradually develop and release idle land owned by our group company NIPPN SOLUTION Co., Ltd. in Fukagawa City, Hokkaido, into a forest where people can enjoy nature in all four seasons, and to make it a model case for ecosystem conservation.

Local citizens participate in the annual tree planting festival, planting Sargent's cherry trees, Japanese rowan trees, and other trees.

Raw Material Cultivation

Our group company, NAGANO TOMATO Co., Ltd. manufactures and sells processed tomato products such as tomato ketchup or nametake (cooked enoki mushroom) products made from enoki mushroom grown in Nagano Prefecture. Among its products, its tomato juice "Shinshu Born of Delicious Tomato" uses 100% Nagano Prefecture made tomatoes in order to promote local production for local consumption.

In addition, as part of our efforts to promote CSR management, we assign new employees to harvest tomatoes every summer to make them aware of the significance of their social contribution. We will continue to engage in activities with an awareness of CSR management.
